'What fool is not so wise
To lose an oath and win a paradise?'
Before venturing down to the shores of Penzance for our second, and much anticipated, run of Shakespeare's 'Love's Labour's Lost', I promised myself that I would not complain about the notorious mizzly moments the Cornish Riviera can offer. Well, I quickly broke that oath and have cursed the gods for the three changes of clothes I've had to make today before 11am! But I am so pleased I did break my oath! In the Minack Theatre, I genuinely feel like I have discovered an actor's nirvana. I have to keep pinching myself to make sure I'm not dreaming.
As we began our 'get in', our first seemingly herculean task was to manoeuvre all of our scenery and props from the carefully packed van down to the stage. No mean feat when considering you are basically transporting both heavy and delicate items down the side of a cliff face!
In a perfect display of actor affinity, the cast and crew formed a human chain making what at first seemed an impossible job, easy.
This is my first ever time visiting the Minack and I honestly cannot overcome the immense sense of awe; I feel so lucky to have the opportunity to perform here with such a talented and friendly group of Stamfordians.
I truly feeling like I have 'won a paradise'!
